*_SPORT: RUGIPO Staff Games Resurrect After Few Years In Exile_*

_After many years of Oblivion and death, the Staff Games between the sisters union in Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo has resurrected as the staff games competition kicked off recently with a football match between the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), and the Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) at exactly 4 o'clock in the evening at the Polytechnic sports complex, Owo._

_The football competition was kicked off by Mr Ilesanmi Ogundahunsi, the Acting Rector  as  both team (ASUP and NASU) began the competition._

_This competition is the first of it's kind since the incubent Rector took over the mantle of leadership._

_The match ended up in two goals to one in favor of ASUP team, though it was a goalless draw in the first half of the match._

_Mr Ajibola Olawole Opened the scoring chart few minutes into the second half of the match and braced it with another superb goal which earned the ASUP team the winning goal of the match. In 10mins to the final whistle Adetula Olorunfemi saw the back of the net as NASU scored their only goal of the match._

_While speaking with Mr Arikawe Ade, the ASUP team captain who is also the ASUP General Secretary commended the effort of the Acting Rector of the school who brought the staff games which has stopped few years ago back to life, he described the Acting Rector as a hardworking man and also as a lover of games, " we the staff are going to be both mentally and physically fit as we engage ourselves in this competition" he said.,_
_He added that, he sees his side winning the competition as they are fit and favorite to win the 2019 staff games competition._

_However, the NASU team captain Emmanuel Olufemi confidently hope his team will come back stronger in the next match against Senior Staff Union team (SSANIP) on Wednesday despite their first defeat._

 _According to him,  his side did not have enough  training together before the match, " we played well as a team even though I don't expect that much from my team, we had great chances but luck is not on our side today,  and I believe we will come back in the next match to win with multiple goals and qualify for the next round ",  he said._
